Halbert, a first-term councilwoman, made the announcement at a noon press conference outside of City Hall.

Did she mention anything interesting at her press conference, or does the CA not get into details like that?

Someone please tell me anything she's done for Memphis other than open her big mouth.

give me a break.

with whalum in the race she won't even get all of orange mound.
with chumney in the race she won't even get all of the female vote.

she has never been in the press except to respond to allegations of corruption and criminal behavior.

what a joke.

First-term council person running for Mayor? What good would a first-term person be in running the whole shebang.

That's as silly as a first-term Senator trying to run the entire country!! You see where that's taking us . . .

the more people that get into this race, the more likely it is we are going to have some bozo who only gets 10-15 percent of the vote as our next mayor.

and that is just plain stupid. these lightweights that are putting their names on the ballot for this election are not interested in serving memphis, they're only interested in serving themselves.

if they really cared at all about Memphis, they'd get out and get behind someone who has the chops to actually run the city.

I wonder what her position is on legalization of marijuana.

I would like for everyone (parents, Grand parents, aunts, uncles, etc.) to think of this when you go out to vote. These are the same people who have stolen money from your children’s education. These people have decided that giving you a 2% cut on your Property Taxes is more important than your child’s education. I believe this is personal (they all were angry because the board members did not show up for that meeting, with the exception of one (you know that idiot that said they need to close down the schools) once again trying to deny my children an education. I believe that we should start now eliminating these people from positions. First by not electing any of them for Mayor, Second eliminating them from the City Council's (not those who disagreed with the Council’s decision) office and last but not least get rid of the school board as well. I thought that if we were to change some of those past members of the board, with their old ideas we would do better. I am the first to admit I was wrong.

Who is she kidding. This is a joke right. Wanda if you read these post, please save yourself a lot of time and energy.

C'mon man . . . if they were to legalize it, her son would lose his only source of income. It's not like ayone's going to pay him to beat his girlfriends (so far, the only other skill that has been put forth to the public in these volumes) . . . he NEEDS dope to be illegal.

I wonder what her position is on civilians interfering in police investigations . . . that's what I wanna' know about!!

:-D

Everyone is asking for the job on mayor. Okay, I think that we should really look at their qualifications. They will need to realize that you ask for the issues you find and you can't whine about inheriting it. You need to be able to run a business correctly.
After 18 years of the same mayor's politics, there is no telling what they will find lurking in the shadows. They will need to be strong and do what is right for the city not for their own interest. Someone that can mend the racial divide that has been escalating the last 18 years. Someone that can stand up to the same old politics.
After Tennessee Waltz and all the corrupt officials that have been seen:
The next mayor needs to bring people back into Memphis. Understand the issues that we face everyday.
They must be able to help the police departments clean up this town. There is to much crime going on.
They must be able to help get kids back on track. "It takes a village to raise a child" get the city on track as to how.
I am tired of hearing politicians say that they inherited something the applied for and ask for the position.

I guess we all can stop laughing and start cring. Just hearing her name in the news all the time is punishment enough for the city.
By the way, I wonder?? Who does she want to have as her private body-guard, her Mama's Boy son with his drugs? No thank you Wanda, keep yourself to yourself.
